Neivedhyam Seva Set – Handcrafted Brass Tambalam and Katori for Naivedyam
Naivedyam is food offered to the deity before anyone in the house eats. What it is served on matters: the offering is arranged, presented and left before the Goddess, and tradition has always reserved brass for that purpose.
Neivedhyam Seva Set, consisting of 2 pieces, is made by the Thatheras of Jandiala Guru, Punjab, a community whose traditional brass and copper utensil-making craft was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2014. Each vessel is hammered into shape by hand over small wood-fired stoves. Read more: Meet the Thatheras of Punjab.
Product Highlights
•
Brass Tambalam (Medium) : A wide, rimmed plate for arranging the naivedyam, fruits and festive offerings before the deity.
•
Brass Traditional Katori (Small) : For the payasam, sweets or prasadam offered alongside the main spread.
•
Sized to work together : The katori sits on the tambalam without crowding it, something you rarely get piecing brassware together from different shops.
•
UNESCO-recognised craftsmanship : Every piece is hand-hammered by the Thatheras of Punjab over wood-fired stoves, using a technique on UNESCO's intangible heritage list.
•
Simple upkeep : Wash after use and dry fully before storing. To restore shine, clean with tamarind or lemon and a little salt, rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Gradual tarnish is natural for pure brass.
